O.K. lets talk a little bit about LaRae and I for a start. I'm 12 and LaRae is almost 12, we are in the same grade (grade 6).  LaRae likes horses and I like birds. We are very interested in volcanoes and how they are made of, that is why we are doing this webpage. That is enough of us so lets talk a little bit about volcanoes O.K.!
 

             For our volcano webpage we will be talking about volcanoes and how they are formed, what kinds and how they explode, we shall also be talking about what causes them to explode.

        Volcanoes can be very dangerous.  Millions of people and kids have died because of volcanoes. Their homes are destroyed and they wouldn't have anything left of their homes from the volcano eruption because it would be burt by a fire or the hot streaming lava! There are many kinds of volcanoes, they are called a Shield Volcano, Cinder Cones Volcano and Strato Volcano! The worst volcano would probably be Strato Volcano. They are very explosive, with very steep sides. Some people call it the "layer cake" volcano. A Cinder Cones volcano is mostly made of ash and cinders. Very little lava. The Shield Volcano is not explosive but are very hot, (hot "runny" lava).
    Most volcanoes are caused by pressure in the the mantle against the crust.
    The three main types of rocks that form magma are called: Igneous rock (fire rocks), Sedimentary rock (layerd rocks) and a Metamorphic rock (changed rocks). The Igneous rock is magma cooled down to form that rock. Sedimentary rock is formed by sand on the beach it gets hard and forms that rock.  Metamorphic rock is made by heat and pressure in the magma underneath crust in the mantel.

What makes it explode? All the magma pushing on the surface to break the crust and form a hill and it will grow from a hill and form a volcano when it is not exploding it looks like a mountain it will explode whenever  it wants and doesn't explode on a time line. The one in Hawaii, it explodes every 10-15 years but still comes unexpectedly. The first clue that a volcano is about to erupt is that the trees would start die, you would have dirty water, smoke would really come out of the top of the volcano and when it erupts you get acid lake or rivers.
 

Scientists say that it is better for volcanoes to erupt because they say it creates more land for us to live on. Which is good because then we won't be as crowded when more lives are created. It also gives us a chance to explore the world more and new land to search for goods. But remember that volcanoes are extremely dangerous. This is Mindy and LaRae reporting on volcanoes on CTV news.
