One time in a little forest, there lived a bunch of animals. One was a Mule Deer, but one thing was wrong. He had very tiny ears.
Then one day, while he was rubbing his antlers on two very close trees, he suddenly couldn’t move his head. It was stuck between the two trees!
After one hour of pulling, he finally got out. But something was different. His tiny ears were now huge. Then when he was walking, minding his own business, a gopher came along.
“What happened to your ears?” laughed gopher. He just couldn’t stop laughing. Mule Deer just walked away.
That night while everyone was sleeping, Mule Deer heard a funny noise. It sounded like a wolf that was very close, so he quickly woke up all the animals. He took them far, far, away.
It was so far back, that they could hear the river at the end of the forest. Never again were they bothered by a wolf. It turned out that Mule Deer’s ears help to save all the animals.
