This course is very heavy in content, and in order to learn it, you will be to complete  readings and activities. Your activities will consist of probes, assignments, self-check activities, and extended learning.

1. Readings

There is a great deal of core content to learn, both within the course's pages and external web pages to which you are sent.  The material is difficult at times, but you must learn it!  You must activate the reading skills learned in your English classes and read to understand.  This often means having to: You have the wonderful advantage of learning at your own pace, but do not make the mistake that others have done and choose to do so as rapidly and poorly as you can.

2. Activities

Just as with other classes, you will be expected to complete a variety of tasks, some for grades and some not, in order to allow you to process the material and make sense of it.  You will be required to keep a neat binder for this course, split into two sections, one titled Probes and one titled Assignments.  Be sure you keep it organized, as the probes section will be turned in for marks at the conclusion of each unit for marks!  Although your assignments are generally kept on computer and submitted electronically, I strongly suggest that you keep a hard copy snapped into the Assignments section should something terrible happen . . . .

The following list will outline the expectations for each type of activity.

Probe 2:

Go to the Revlon page and surf through some of their pages.   What image do you think they are trying to convey about themselves and their product?    Look at the graphics, print style, colour, words, links, and camera angles. Who do you think is their target audience?   Now go to the Bonne Belle page.  How does this page differ?  What message have they constructed about themselves?  Support your answers.

Note: Be sure to keep your binder neat, complete, and organized, as you will be required to submit your work in the mail at the completion of each unit for marks.
