Where is Saskatchewan?

SASK is one of the three prairie provinces in Canada. Manitoba is to the east,
Alberta is to the west, and the Northwest Territories is north of Sask.
It is the fifth largest province. (map)

The name "Saskatchewan"
comes from the Cree word "Kisisskatchewan"
which means "swift flowing river".

651,942 sq. km (251,700 sq. mi)

Land and Water
Half is forest, one-third is cultivated land
and one-eighth is covered with water.

Population
Over one million people live here (1,035,200 as of December 2009).
Most of the people live in the southern part of the province.
(64% of the population in urban centres and 36% in rural areas)

Facts:
Known as Canada's breadbasket with 40% of the country's farmland ;

in the world; the largest potash mine in the world.
