PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND 
Canada's smallest province is covered with many small lakes and rivers.
It is 224 km. long.
Charlottetown, the capital city, is the largest city on the island.
A bridge called the Confederation Bridge joins New Brunswick and P.E.I.
The bridge was opened in 1997 and is almost 13 km long.
![]() the salt marshes There is a large fishing industry. Lobsters are caught in traps. Clams, scallops, mussels and oysters are farmed in underwater hatcheries.

People come from around the world to visit Green Gables House which is a museum about Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author who wrote the book Anne of Green Gables. Other attractions on the island are the red soil, sand dunes and 800 km. of sandy beaches.
