Chaplin is a small community 80km West of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The main industries are farming, sodium sulphate mining and brine shrimp harvesting.
Farmers grow a variety of grains including wheat, canola, barley, and oats. Cattle are raised by most farmers as well. The sodium sulphate mine uses an evaporation process to extract hydrous sodium sulphate from nearby Chaplin Lake. The brine shrimp operation harvests brine shrimp to be sold as fish food.
Recreational activities in Chaplin include sports such as hockey, baseball, and curling. Other activities/groups include dance, Seniors, and Arts Council.
Chaplin School is a new school built in 1990. There are approximately 105 students attending from Kindergarten to grade 12..
