Activism

1. Choose one of the following activists. What impact has their work had on the lives of indigenous people?
   • Craig Keilberger (Canada - Free the Children)
   • Rigoberta Menchu (Guatemala- awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1992)
   • Nelson Mandela (South Africa - worked to end apartheid; awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993)
   • Iqbal Masi (a child slave who spoke out and then was assassinated)
     
2. Personal Activism
• Document your involvement in an organization or work which benefits those less fortunate.  For Example, do you coach basketball at the Boy's and Girl's Club; volunteer at the food bank; teach horseback riding to the handicap?
