Bar Graph Tutorial
Microsoft Excel should open, and
you should see something on your screen that resembles
a word processor, except
it has a grid. Each little box on the grid is called a cell. Each column
has a
letter and each row has a number, therefore each cell has a label such as C5.
Click on
the cell which coordinates with column C and row 5.

Click on the letter A and you will notice that all of column A is selected.

Move your mouse so it is on the
line in between the letter A and B. You should notice
that the mouse changes
shape to a line with two arrows. If you see this, click and drag
your mouse a
little to the right. This will make column A wider so that we can fit the names
of each country in each of the cells below it.

Move your mouse so it is on the
line in between the letter B and C. You should notice
that the mouse changes
shape to a line with two arrows. If you see this, click and drag
your mouse a
little to the right. This will make column B wider so that we can fit the
population of each country in each of the cells below it. Now move the
mouse between
C and D to make column C bigger. This is where you are going
to put the area of each country.

Click on Cell A1

Open the WORLD MAP. Type in the name of your first country - Brazil - into Cell A1
Continue adding the names of each
country from the WORLD MAP into the A
column.
Highlight Cell A2 and print the name of the next
country. The highlight A3 and keep going.
You should have six
countries in all.
Now you are ready to enter your data.
Highlight B1 and enter the population of Brazil for the Fact Sheet on Brazil

Highlight C1 and enter the Area of Brazil

Continue entering the Population and Area for each of
the six countries.
(THESE ARE NOT THE REAL NUMBERS!)

Now highlight all of the columns with numbers in them
by dragging the mouse while holding in down.
Start in A1 and drag your
mouse to the bottom of C6
