PROFESSIONAL GROWTH PLANS
Professional
growth plans enhance the formal supervision and evaluation
process by encouraging teachers to do exactly what we ask
our students to do: self-assess, self-evaluate and self-regulate.
The growth planning process empowers teachers to reflect on
their career - where have I been? where am I now? and where
do I want to be? The focus is on 'what I learned' and 'what
I will do next'. Professional growth planning is a continuous
and ongoing process with a mentor and/or an instructional
leader, meeting regularly to discuss progress, improve methods
of instruction, use of resources, the adaptive dimension and
other curriculum initiatives in order to maximise student
outcomes. Professional and Spiritual growth plans reflect
convincing evidence of growth and improvement and are self-directed.
The
professional growth process should initially begin with an
understanding and awareness of the division mission statement
and policys regarding professional development, supervision
and evaluation.
