storyboard frame The large box in the top is used to draw the subject of that scene. Be sure to draw as you would see it, close-up, establishing shot, etc. In the video box, write notes such as special effects, lighting, special shots. In the audio box, reference to a part in the script and note any special sound effects, or if there is even sound in the scene.

You can think of a storyboard as a comic strip, where each panel tells a part of the story. Each new location, or change of camera angle, requires a new panel in the storyboard.

Things such as lighting, camera effects, sound effects, and type of camera shot are also noted in the storyboard. Each panel is also referenced to a different part of the script.

Here is an excellent example of a storyboard and a treatment for a 4 minute animation. This storyboard was taken from the internet with the creator's permission.
