Accounting 10 allows students to explore the field of accounting and specifically learn the basics of establishing and implementing basic accounting concepts for a service firm.
Prerequisites

Introductory Word Processing Skills
Internet Use -- Accessing web sistes, sending and receiving e-mail, sending and opening attachments.

Modules

 

Accounting 10 consists of four 25-hour modules. Modules 1A and 1B will concentrate on what is considered the "Core" material of the course. The topics within these modules serve as the means for developing the content, processes, skills, and attitudes required for understanding accounting as it relates to a Service - Firm. Two other modules will be chosen as optional modules. Module 4 will concentrate on banking and cash control, while Module 7 will focus on using spreadsheets for accounting purposes.

The materials that have been developed do not replace the curriculum guide nor the accounting textbook. They are not meant to be a comprehensive overview of each concept; they are meant to be used only as an additional resource.

Each lesson in the two core modules (1A and 1B) provide two instruction pages, a self-check page, and a list of activities which include computer/Internet activities, textbook activities, and non-computer/textbook activities.

Each lesson in the two optional modules (4 and 7) provide a list of topics that should be included in the content, a list of activities which include computer/Internet activities, textbook activities, and non-computer/textbook activities.

The textbook referred to for the online materials:

South Western: Century 21 Accounting, Multicolumn Journal, Seventh Edition, Ross, Gilbertson, Lehman and Hanson, 2000.

SOFTWARE REQUIRED:
A CURRENT BROWSER, FOR EXAMPLE, NETSCAPE 4.7
MSWORD, MSEXCEL, AND MSPOWERPOINT FILES ARE INCLUDED.
